The Wedding of Emily and Jeff at an Abandoned School House

I met Emily many miles from Toronto in a small town in Eastern Quebec. Trois-Pistoles was the start of our friendship and I never dreamed I'd be photographing her wedding so many years later. We were both part of the Explore French-immersion program and went on a biking tour on Route 183 (the whale route!) beginning in Les Escoumins. We watched pods of whales surface, hiked, and tried to communicate in our mediocre French. When Emily emailed me about her wedding, I was so excited. She told me about her intimate ceremony, and how she wanted every part of her wedding day to be relaxed and sentimental to her. The ceremony was held at an abandoned school house in the Niagara region and the reception was at Oast House Brewery. Emily and Jeff your love inspired me. It's so genuine and real, and I felt impacted being apart of this celebration. Thank you so, so much for having me.

Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being “in love”, which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.

Marcus + Alesha: wineries & vows at Niagara-On-The-Lake

Having a wedding on Niagara-On-The-Lake means two things: the views are spectacular and so is the wind (not even kidding). Marcus & Alesha's wedding at Konzelmaan's Estate Winery was one I'll remember for a long time, and not just because our hair was flying most of the day (I secretly loved it!). They met through C3 Toronto Church, and it was incredible to see the loving community that has walked alongside from the beginning be present with them on this day. I'd say their love, passion and kindness is equally as as spectacular as mother nature's elements that day. Thank you for having me, M + A!
